Varlamov wins in debut
Michael Nylander scored his first goal in nearly two months, with 3:32 left in the third period, to give Simeon Varlamov a win in his first outing with the Capitals.
Varlamov stopped 32 shots in his debut to help Washington beat the Canadiens, 2-1. The win puts Washington at 18-10-3 and in first place in the Southeast Division. Their next game is against the New York Islanders on Dec. 16.
